I know many people have the feeling that something is just not quite right. Maybe you consider you should be in a better position/situation/relationship than you are. And when you are not, of course, it’s natural to wonder what’s holding you back.
We only have this feeling when we aspire to more than life is giving to us, not when things are going well. But you’ve been good right? You’ve paid your dues, and played by the rules, and yet the ‘better life’ you are wanting is somehow passing you by.
So, what’s going on? Is someone else holding you back?’ Did you annoy or offend a ‘higher power’ that is now negatively influencing your life? Or, are you just somehow not living up to your potential… and looking for excuses to blame someone or something else?
So, What’s Holding You Back?
There’s a lot of information online about this. And the themes are usually the same…. However, you will find that my take is a little different from the run-of-the-mill answers which include:
– Lack of confidence
– Feeling unworthy
– Liking your comfort zone
– The opinions of others
– Waiting for ‘the conditions’ to be ‘just right’
– You’re too easily distracted
– You have unrealistic expectations….. etc, etc.
And yes, to varying degrees, these things can and do contribute to you not getting what you want…. So they’re not wrong. But why address each one of these conditions separately when they all have the same root cause? And the cause of all of them is YOUR INTERNAL ENVIRONMENT…. That is your thoughts and feelings.
Yes, when your thoughts and feelings do not align with the goals and dreams that you have, you will never achieve them, no matter how much you want to and no matter how much energy you devote to working towards them….. your actions when not aligned with the majority of your thoughts will never produce the results you want.
So, I’m suggesting that it’s not the environment that exists outside of you that is the cause of your accomplishments, your motivation, your success, or your lack of these things. Instead, it is your internal world of thoughts and feelings that determine what you have achieved, and what you will achieve.
And this means something that many of you don’t want to hear…. That it is you and only you who is responsible for your current life circumstances.
To Change Your Life, You Must First Change Your Mind.
If you analyze the list of answers given above, you will notice that most of them fall into the category of ‘what’s going on in YOUR mind!’
And even the ones that are seemingly outside of your mental control, (like the opinions of others and waiting for the conditions to be just right) have their basis in the way YOU are thinking and then feeling about what others do and say, and what’s happening with the economy, etc.
So, where you are in life right now is a result of everything that you have done and that has happened to you as a result of all your thoughts. And your thoughts are so important because they determine how you feel, which leads to your actions or inaction… Yes, EVERYTHING…
The relationship you are in, the work you are doing, the quality of friends you have, your financial situation… everything has been created by you, firstly because of the thoughts you had, the way you felt about those thoughts, and then what you did or didn’t do.
It is our deep-seated beliefs, (our inherited mind programs), which are responsible for the majority of the thoughts we have all day, every day. And unfortunately, some of us were programmed to fail! However, most of us were programmed to live mediocre lives, and a very few were programmed to succeed.
Luckily for all of us, we are not defined by the current thought patterns we have been programmed with… yes, we can change…..
Fortunately, our magnificent minds are capable of radical change… (and when I say minds, I am referring to the beliefs and thought patterns that we have.) It’s now easier than ever to ‘upgrade’ your thought patterns so they come into alignment with your goals and dreams… AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU WILL ACHIEVE THEM.
However, change doesn’t come easy for most people…. mainly because we believe that ‘this is who we are,’ and our ego identity wants to take the easy way out, and stick with what it already knows and believes.
Where Did My Current Patterns Of Limiting Beliefs Come From?
The first step to changing the things that are currently holding you back is to become aware of your most commonly repeated thought patterns. And this is not easy… Why not?
Because psychologists tell us that the average person is unaware of up to 95% of the thoughts they have each day. They term them ‘subconscious thoughts,’ and because these thoughts are happening below the level of our consciously ‘aware’ mind, they are not always easy to identify.
However, since this level of mind is responsible for generating most of our thoughts it is also responsible for the way we feel and then act (and react) most of the time.
This means that the reality for most people, throughout most of their waking hours, is that firstly, they are unaware of the majority of thoughts they are having, and secondly, they are unaware of how these thoughts are contributing to their feelings and actions…
And if you are not getting the results you want in certain aspects of your lives, it’s because your deep-seated thoughts are limiting you. Now, the most interesting aspect of all this is: Where did you get these limiting beliefs from?
Did you make them up yourself? Hardly… None of us would have been silly enough to install programs into our subconscious that we know would prevent us from living awesome lives, would we? Well, not on purpose anyway…
We received the vast majority of our beliefs/mind programs before the age of 7 years old. And we unconsciously formulated our beliefs (that will determine everything about our future lives) from our environment.
So, did you grow up in an environment filled with happy, healthy, successful people? Or, like most of us, did you grow up being taught about limitation, struggle, fear, doubt, insecurity, and scarcity? If so, this is the reason why you are thinking that something is holding you back…..
….. something is holding you back…. And it is you, specifically, it’s your limiting deep-seated beliefs. And until you change them, your life is not going to improve!…
How Can You Reprogram Your Mind With Better Programs?
There are two options, and the first is a slow journey, but a worthwhile journey. You begin by appreciating everything about yourself and your life, exactly as it is now.
This will change you slowly but surely, providing that you only focus on the positive stuff about life. And if something is not positive, you don’t focus on it, or you change the way you frame it in your mind so that, at least it’s no longer negative.
With time, if you keep this up, your vibration will rise… and this means that because of The Law of Attraction, you will begin ‘attracting’ the success, the better relationships, the wealth, the promotion, and the fun that you desire….
