Why is it that some people can, seemingly by magic, constantly attract to them the things they desire, while for the rest of us, our days are a mixture of struggle, problems, fun, and often even stress and depression? Why is it that we are having a hard time when all we really want is to live a wonderful and fulfilling life?
It is our deep-seated subconscious beliefs that are manifesting, through The Law of Attraction, as our life experiences and circumstances. It is these beliefs that are preventing us from living the lives we dream of because our unconscious beliefs are not in alignment with our goals and dreams.
Visualization is one personal development process that we can use to help us realign our deepest beliefs with our goals and dreams so we can manifest the satisfying life experience we desire.
What Is Visualization?
Visualization is a thought process that requires us to see our goals as already complete and ‘know’ that our dreams are already realized. The process is to imagine that our reality is different (better) from the actual circumstances of our lives. Our subconscious mind will accept our imaginations and then attract the matching components into our lives to make our goals and dreams our actual reality.
Visualization works because our subconscious mind cannot distinguish between what is real and what is imagined. If we imagine our future life the way we wish it to be, our subconscious mind accepts the program and sets out to make it a reality. Because ‘a picture is worth a thousand words,’ visualization is a quick and effective way of implanting new information into our minds.
Various forms of visualization are used by the world’s top performers and most successful people to achieve their goals. Top athletes have been using visualization techniques and calling it ‘mental rehearsal’ since 1960.
However, visualization is not exclusively for the rich and successful and has helped many people like you and me become rich, powerful, and successful. We can ALL use visualization, and our results are only limited by our commitment (or lack of it) to the process of spending a little time each day visualizing our goals and dreams as already realized.
Why should we practice visualization?
If we don’t have a plan for our lives, we just get caught up in and distracted by everything going on around us. We will be drawn into various conversations that don’t benefit us, watch movies just because our friends are, get upset when our team loses, and let mindless social media consume large amounts of our time, etc. Our lives, in effect, become part of other people’s plans…… none of which gets us any closer to achieving our own goals (if we have any).
This is important because everything we do and everything we think about evokes feelings from us, and it is how we feel that determines our level of satisfaction with our life. So, if we don’t have a plan for ourselves, and are just coasting along in life, how we feel at any moment will be because of what is happening outside of ourselves, in the external world. Other people, events, and circumstances are controlling the content of our lives and, therefore, are dictating the level of satisfaction we can achieve. Not a good situation!
Do you think you can achieve YOUR goals and dreams when you have no control over your thoughts and feelings?
The answer to this is NO!
We can use visualization as one technique to reclaim control over the direction our life is heading. However, we can only know where we want to go if we have some definite goals. We have to know how we want our future lives to be.
There is so much information on goal setting available that I won’t go into it now. Let’s just say that we all consider success differently, and it is up to us to determine what goals will bring us fulfillment.
However, I will stress that the more specific we are when creating our goals, the more likely we will receive the outcomes we desire. When our thoughts are not clear or focused, it’s like trying to construct a skyscraper with only half of the plans- it becomes impossible for our subconscious mind to fill in the details, and therefore it’s unlikely that we will achieve what we want.

How Does Visualization Work?
Our original programs/beliefs were installed in us when we were young, and it’s likely that they no longer match our desired vision of the future. Therefore, we need to upgrade our old unconscious beliefs so that our minds understand the direction we wish our life to take.
The new pictures we envision and subsequent feelings we generate when imagining/visualizing a life different from our current reality cause a conflict within our minds. This is a good thing as our minds are wired to resolve conflicts and will naturally begin to hunt for solutions.
The solution is to seek out ways to make our current reality match the one we are envisioning.
So our mind will automatically start filtering information so that anything that may help us achieve our visualized goals becomes a priority. This includes information that we may previously have ignored or avoided.
It does not help us when we confuse our minds by being vague or entertaining conflicting information. If we give our mind options, it will know that we are not serious about achieving specific outcomes, and it will not know how to help us achieve our goals. So who knows how our lives will turn out!
Will Visualization Help You Achieve Your Goals and Dreams?
Everything we make or achieve begins with a thought. Thoughts, when focused, begin to vibrate, and this vibration, through the Law of Attraction, will draw similar ideas to it. This expansion of thoughts and ideas leads to new beliefs that cause us to act and create. And creating our ideal life requires that we think the exact thoughts that will cause us to act and behave in specific ways to achieve our goals.
Now we have a choice to make:
- Continue to think about the same stuff: observe external stimuli and have reactionary thoughts and feelings, and then act, thereby creating the content of our lives based on a lot of random stuff that is going on outside of us: Resulting in a life filled with things we want and things we don’t want, the good and the bad. This means our experience will continue pretty much as it is now.
- Or have a plan, a vision, of how we wish our future to be, and set about changing our thought patterns to match this evolving extraordinary life we desire to be living.
It’s important to understand that if we don’t have a clear image of how we want things to be, we won’t achieve it!
It doesn’t matter what your dreams and goals are. All of us can have a different ideal life planned, and we all have the ability to achieve our vision and live our dream!
We may desire to be healthy, wealthy, happy, wise, famous, slim, muscular, intelligent, good at playing the piano, etc. It doesn’t matter what we want, none of it is foolish, and if we can ‘see it’ before it is a reality, and hold that vision firm in our mind, without deviation, it will manifest as our future reality.
This means we mustn’t let the reality of what we are actually observing in the world now interfere with the new reality we are creating for ourselves. We need to have our thoughts vibrationally matched with the outcomes we desire so that by The Law of Attraction, we will only attract to us what we are matched to.
At first, this may seem an impossible task (to stay focused on our desired outcome when the daily reality does not match our dreams); however, our mind is like a muscle, and the more consistently we focus on the results we want, the more likely we are to achieve them. If your goals are a burning passion, an obsession, you will achieve them because you focus on them all the time and do not have contradictory thoughts to confuse your mind. This works because, at a subconscious level, science has proven that our mind does not know the difference between real-world events and visualizations! Our mind treats them the same.
How Can You Use Visualization To Change Your Life?
To begin making visualization work for you, it is first essential to understand that we are all different. Therefore, we should not get hung up about ‘this is the only and best way to visualize!’
It’s best to be relaxed about the process and try different things until you find what works for you. Remember, this is all about you and your journey to creating a better life for yourself! So, if something is working for you, continue to do it, and don’t let anyone talk you out of it!
A great way to begin is:
- Sit or lie down in a space where you are comfortable and will not be disturbed for at least fifteen minutes.
- Relax your mind and body by taking a few long, slow, deep breaths through your nose and focus on the sensation of the breath moving in and out of your body.
- Begin to imagine, with as much detail as possible, how you would feel, and what you would be doing if your goal or goals were realized right now.
- Add in sounds, smells, tastes, and emotions that you will have when you are living your dream life.
- See/imagine this future as already realized (not something you WANT to happen, but something that HAS ALREADY BECOME REALITY!) Convince yourself that this is the future you WILL be living.
The process is not complicated, so don’t make it complicated!
Some people are visually orientated and have no problem seeing pictures in their minds. However, if you are like me, your thoughts will be your predominant tool. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to do this. Just try to remain as relaxed as possible about the whole process and allow it to unfold naturally.
Setting up your practice so that it becomes familiar and regular will help ensure the best results. It helps to practice at the same time each day, in the same place, with the same relaxing music/candles/scents, etc. A fixed routine tells your body and mind that when you enter this familiar space at this time, you are here for the purpose of visualization. This allows you to slip more quickly into a relaxed state, and with time, will make your practice more comfortable and rewarding.
After about a month of practice, it will become so familiar that you will look forward to this time each day when you can just be in a state of being that is solely for your benefit.
How Else Can You Improve Your Success When Visualizing?
The best times to practice are when we are already in a relaxed state. When we first wake up in the morning and right before going to sleep are ideal times. Our subconscious mind is more open to receiving new information at these times. However, any time is ok if you as long as you can focus consistently on your goals for about 10 to 15 minutes.
If you already do yoga, tai chi, or meditation, incorporating visualization at the end of your regular practice is great!
Brainwave entrainment is another exciting process that helps us reach deep meditative states quickly and easily.
Entrainment works by using certain sound tools like isotones and binaural beats to alter our brain waves for the purpose of changing the way we feel. Different sounds are used to induce states of enhanced focus, deep relaxation, meditation, sleep, and many others. This is a great tool for anyone who has difficulty reaching more positive and productive states of being.
The Medici Code is one such tool that offers a series of theta frequency audio tracks with wealth-building and abundance secrets embedded into them. This ensures the information you need to help you reprogram your mind, to get you what you want, is put directly into your subconscious mind- not your conscious mind.
This is important because brain scientists know that it is our unconscious mind that is active for up to ninety-five percent of each day. So, imagine how your life can change when you over-write your limiting beliefs about scarcity, lack, and fear and reprogram yourself for confidence, wealth, love, and joy. Check out The Medici Code to see how this program can help you by clicking HERE or on the book.
“Now, I realised that ordinary consciousness was not just a given, but
the product of something called brain waves, and that these brain waves
could be altered at will… If you don’t like what’s going on in your
head, then (you can) change it. It was a revelation…” Michael Hutchison, author of Megabrain
Regular and consistent practice will ensure that your ‘ideal life’ becomes a part of your automatic/unconscious thoughts. And when this happens, you can be assured that your unconscious mind is beginning to work for you to make your dreams a reality. The previous thoughts that got you to where you are now have been replaced, and your future life will become what you have been visualizing for yourself.
YOU WILL BEGIN HAVING THE EXPERIENCES THAT YOU DESIRE AND GETTING THE RESULTS THAT YOU HAVE BEEN CREATING IN YOUR VISUALIZATIONS!
I hope I have helped you come to understand what is visualization and how it can be used to improve your life. By reprogramming our subconscious mind, we are changing our beliefs about ourselves and about what we can expect to receive in this life experience. Visualization works because we are focusing and directing our billions of brain cells in a singular direction…. That of making our future life better than the life we are currently living.
So, when are you going to take time out for your first practice?
We would love to know how practicing visualization is working out for you. Please leave us a comment in the section below.
I love visualization! As an artist, I used to imagine what my work had to look like, but until 8 years ago I had never put visualization to work for life goals. I didn’t even have specific life goals.
After seminars, I started to practice it the way you describe. As a result, I retired from my studio, sold the house, and emigrated. So I can fully back you up on the statement that visualization and the Law of Attraction work!
Nowadays I not only go through a similar process like yours but make dream boards as well. They are on my bulletin board and on my phone as pictures. After my morning meditation, I browse through them.
Thanks for your enthusiastic article 🙂
Awesome 🙂 Dream boards are a great way to keep your vision around you through out your day. The more we can see it, feel it, taste it, touch it, the quicker it will manifest for us.
I love your enthusium Hannie 🙂 To your continued success,
Thanks for sharing,
Andrew
Thanks for this post Andrew. I meditate twice a day and was just thinking that I’m going to start adding my visualisation practise in at the end of it, so seeing you suggest it too in your post shows me I’m on the right track. I have to admit I struggle to visualise for longer than a minute or two, I tend to run out of ideas and then lose steam. Or end up just visualising the same thing each time and then find it doesn’t illicit the same emotion/ starts to feel stale. Any suggestions for how to combat this? Also, what is the best way to call in/ visualise something you haven’t experienced yet? Say I wanted to call in my soul mate for example, I feel I have no reference as I don’t know what it is like. Or if I want to manifest a particular dancing job but don’t know what the place looks like etc, what do you suggest?
Love the idea of using binaural beats and isochronic tones, it’s such a great brain hack!
Hi Natalie. Thanks for reading and commenting on my post.
Visualizing the same thing over and over again is ok, even great because it creates a stronger connection in your brain, and the more clearly you can see it, the more likely you are to achieve it.
You mentioned: “just visualizing the same thing each time and then find it doesn’t elicit the same emotion/ starts to feel stale.” This is a choice you are making or a belief you have about the process. I suggest you ‘change your mind’ and you will achieve a different result! The more enthusiasm you can add, the more excitement, positive emotions you feel while doing the visualization, the better the result will be. I suggest if you are visualizing something, and you have a ‘stale’ response to it, then it is something that you are not really passionate about achieving???? Maybe a bit more thought is required about the goals you wish to achieve before you begin the visualization process, because, if it was me, I wouldn’t really want to attract stuff into my life that I am only ‘semi’ interested in.
To call in something like a soul mate is interesting. Some people like to get specific with details like height, weight, nationality, personality type, religion, age, etc. I believe that we are all on a journey, and as such are growing and changing ourselves as time progresses. So if we visualize someone to match who we are now, they may not be a good match for us in the near future as we grow ourselves. So for me, The ideal would be to attract a mate that matches who we are now and is willing and able to grow with us into the future. The most important thing to focus on it ‘the feelings’ that you will be experiencing when you are with this person. i.e. you will feel loving, passionate, excited, happy, etc. So visualize yourself with this person and experience all of these things that you wish to be feeling when in love. Also, visualize this person feeling the same for you, and know that if you love them this much that they will meet all of your other criteria regarding height, weight, nationally, etc.
Dancing jobs? Ok, why be specific about a particular place? If you only want to dance in this one place, you are excluding many other wonderful opportunities. Again, I would be less specific and focus more on the feelings you are having when you have achieved your dream. Imagine the crowd cheering you as you perform, how does that feel? Imaging the great reviews you have received, how does that feel? Imaging your co-dancers being so happy for you that you have achieved your dreams, how does that feel? I think you will never again get bored or stale with your visualizations if you always go for the better feeling thoughts 🙂
I wish you all the best, With respect for your journey,
Andrew
Hi Andrew!
I’m happy that I came across your great post! I knew about visualization before, but I didn’t practise it seriously yet. Unfortunately, our daily routine and the use of gadgets make it difficult to concentrate and decrease the speed of our thought significantly. I will try to dedicate myself to this practice at least 15 minutes per day. What do you think about the Medici Code? Did you personally try it?
Thank you and all the best,
Alex
Hi Alex. You are right that our modern way of living makes it very difficult for many of us to take time out and relax. However, it comes down to the choices we make. I believe that we are deserving of a great life, and so I do take time out every day to focus on making this my reality.
Yes, I am currently still using the Medici Code. I think it is a really good tool to help us reach deeper states of relaxation and meditation, and that is why I have included the information in my article.
Since using The Medici Code, I find myself a lot more focused on achieving my goals. I am recognizing that the unconscious thoughts I am having now, more often are a match to the future life I want to be living. Because of this, I now know that I will get the things I want as these new patterns of thinking will attract my desires to me. I’m really happy with the results that I am achieving from this program and will write a dedicated review of it soon.
I wish you all the best,
Andrew
Hi Andrew!
Thank you for your response! The Medici Code seems very attractive to me, and I’m thinking to try it too. Your story convinced me!
All the best,
Alex

I wish you all the best, my friend,
Andrew
I have done some visualization techniques combined with meditation, but then I stopped. Visualization is a powerful tool, but we need to be consistent with it. I downloaded a meditation app that includes visualization techniques, so I will be starting this again. Meditation really puts your mind at rest and makes it very receptive to visualizations. Your post made me realize that I need to keep on doing this.
Hi Christine. Meditation before visualizations is great as you say. It really can enhance the results we achieve because our mind is not thinking about the normal stuff that pervades our walking times. It is when our mind is relaxed that we can more easily impress upon it the new goals and dreams we have for our future. I wish you well as you once again start to meditate and visualize about your prefered future life.
With much respect,
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
I really enjoyed your article! I have been practicing various visualization techniques for a number of years and they have never failed me. Whenever I embark on something new and challenging I visualize it already done and how happy it made me doing it every step of the way. I watched a Steve Vai (guitar player) video a few months ago and he bases his whole practice and songwriting routine around this technique. Self-confidence is key to advancing quickly but I think anyone can learn to do it.
Frank
Awesome, Frank. I always enjoy listening to people tell me how visualization works for them to help them achieve their goals. As you say, it’s an easy process, and we can all learn to successful incorporate it into our daily lives. All it takes is a bit of time to focus our thoughts on our desired outcomes.
Have a great day, my friend.
Andrew
Wow, this is such a powerful article and one that I can certainly grow from. I definitely will be working on my visualization practices so that I can begin creating my ideal future. The mind is such an amazing thing and your post has expanded on it so well. I have a lot of goals that I am hoping to achieve in my life and with the help of visualizing I think I can begin to make things happen! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!
Hi Shyla. Thanks for your encouraging comments. It’s always great to know that my posts can help others achieve a better life for themselves.
If you really do want to achieve some of your goals, the next step you need to take is to establish a regular practice. It can be as simple as just stopping what you are doing, taking a few relaxing breaths, and with closed eyes, imagine the outcomes you desire already realized……
This works, and the more you do it, the better it works!
I wish you well and can imagine you achieving all of your dreams 🙂
Andrew
